The LampConserver Dimmer (comprising a remote dimmer unit MD2500U with rotary control module MRM) is a power regulator for all dimmable* mains voltage lighting loads: GLS, GU10, blown glass and pressed glass reflector lamps, theatre lamps, CP glass, tungsten halogen (mains voltage and transformer driven low voltage), fluorescent and neon and argon. The wall-mounting component is a single Multiload Rotary Module which can be chosen to fit into grid and plate systems from MK Electric, Wandsworth, and Forbes and Lomax.
The MD2500U usesMultiload’s unique patented 100% effective SoftStart which:
- totally eliminates surge currents and their fatal effect on mains filament lamps
- eliminates nuisance tripping of MCBs and fuses caused by surge currents
- increases the safety of short circuit protection by allowing fuses and MCBs to be rated at nominal current.
The Rotary Module MRM has internal maximum and minimum light level presets to set the dimming range covered by the rotation of the knob. Signalling from the MRM to the dimmer unit is two-wire mains potential cable, allowing mains switches to be incorporated into the same grid-plate without the need for physical separation between the mains supply and the rotary control wiring. Rotary Modules can be arranged, with switches, to form a modular grid system, dimming any number of circuits, switched individually or as a group.
* The lighting load must accept a leading-edge phase control mains input.
