Long lamp life

VoltMaster achieves 3 – 5 times the lamp life predicted by lamp manufacturers, with lamps running at the recommended voltage for perfect colour and sparkle. It achieves its remarkable lamp life at the optimum lamp voltage comparable to many fluorescent and HID light sources (other systems attempt to achieve reasonable lamp life by running lamps at an inefficient lower voltage).

Perfect colour
VoltMaster always ensures optimum voltage at the lamps (11.8V for 12V projects and 23.6V for 24V projects), stabilised against all mains supply and loading fluctuations. Filaments must be run at optimum voltage to ensure true colour temperature and to render colour correctly.

Ordinary electronic and wire-wound transformers under run the lamps, some as low as 10V, to improve lamp life; this severely compromises colour rendition, intensity and sparkle.

All lamps on a properly installed VoltMaster have identical secondary voltages. The overall scheme looks crisp and uniform – in contrast to other schemes using HF electronic transformers in which there is a broad tolerance of output voltage, which makes some lamps on a supposedly uniform brightness circuit appear white and others appear yellow.  Also, HF electronic transformers already giving a low output voltage will have this voltage reduced even further if connected to dimmers which have losses in their circuitry.

Light levels

VoltMaster guarantees stabilised light levels allowing subtly graded and consistently balanced lighting. Exact lux levels can be set accurately on installation and remain unchanged even if, from time to time, the whole mains supply level or the loading changes.
For example, a designer may dictate a particular luminance level for a museum exhibit. VoltMaster is the only system that can guarantee that the voltage on the lamps illuminating the exhibit will remain constant at all times at any dimmed level.

Low Maintenance

As a result of vastly extended lamp life, VoltMaster significantly reduces the number of lamp replacements required. This saves on the cost of replacement lamps and labour. Where it is necessary to erect access equipment for lamp changing, savings can be enormous.

VoltMaster’s long term reliability also saves on the cost of replacing less reliable individual electronic transformers which will be placed next to the lamps in difficult access positions.
In most cases payback for fitting VoltMaster is achieved in less than two years, and where lamp changes are difficult the payback period can be much less.

Remote Siting

VoltMaster can be positioned at extremely long distances from the light fittings, allowing numerous advantages of remote siting to be properly realised. Its unique sensing technology stabilises the voltage at the lamps even in the most challenging installations. Often it is not possible to place transformers near to the fittings, such as historic buildings and swimming pools.

Quiet
Ideal for concert halls and private residences as remote positioning removes transformers and dimmer noise in illuminated areas. Flexible positioning allows siting away from areas where physical objects such as ceiling panels could resonate if local transformers or other electrical devices were fitted on or near them. The very low levels of RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) ensure that electromagnetic noise is kept to a minimum, preventing interference with sensitive electronic or electrical equipment.

Clean

The ability to create clean installations, free from clutter. VoltMaster can be placed well away from the light fittings the public see. Long cable runs are possible and where cable cannot be hidden the use of thinner cable is an advantage. This leaves the ceiling uncluttered by individual transformers and there is no need to disturb expensive interlocking ceiling systems or provide inspection hatches for regular maintenance of lighting equipment in the ceiling.

Special VoltMasters are available which vastly increase the distance the transformers can be placed away from the lamps. Contact us for further information.

Safe
Secondary output cabling is isolated from the mains input cabling. VoltMaster is compatible with the rigorous Safety Extra Low Voltage (SELV) standards, and with the added bonus that all lamp voltages are stabilised. VoltMaster’s in-built safety features include electronic short circuit and overload protection to prevent re-lamping with over-wattage lamps exceeding VoltMaster’s rating.

It is possible to position VoltMaster in, for example, plant rooms, permitting all the wiring to the lamps around pools and boats to be true SELV. VoltMaster makes it unnecessary to mount ordinary individual transformers in areas subject to safety standards or over heating such as in ceiling voids.

External

VoltMaster is available as an exterior version in an IP66 enclosure. However, due to its unique sensing technology, very long secondary cable runs can be achieved. So, if luminaries are mounted outside or in a wet environment it does not automatically follow that the VoltMaster must be mounted outside as well and may be better placed in an internal plant room, for example, removing the need for expensive buried armoured mains cable.
