BA Waterside is the Headquarters building for British Airways. Operational since August 1998, it is the award-winning work of celebrated Norwegian architect Niels Torp. VoltMaster was used throughout the five rooms of the lakeside cafeteria.

BA

Brief
To maximise lamp-life and the brilliance of the low-voltage lighting. To minimise lamp-failure and maintenance requirements.

Challenges
Extremely long cable runs to remotely sited clusters of transformers.

Result
Alan Glenister, Property Manager at BA, commented "This has been a most successful installation. Our two major objectives (extended lamp-life and minimised maintenance) have not only been met, but exceeded. Furthermore, we have other areas using low-voltage which are not driven by VoltMaster: these show markedly higher levels of lamp-failure."

Adrian Roche of Cundall Johnston added "We tend to specify VoltMaster for lighting schemes that call for clusters, or a high number, of ELV downlighters. Where ELV downlighting is called for as part of a decorative lighting design solution, we are aware of the potential dis-benefits of early lamp failure spoiling the overall desired effect together with the associated maintenance costs. We tend to advise our client /design team colleagues of the advantages of specifying intelligent transformers together with extra long life lamps to maximise the benefits. We are pleased to note the feedback received from British Airways."
