Brief
To produce a light scheme that reflected the technological status of the Aquapark. To ensure the highest safety standards.

Challenges
To achieve consistent light-levels from a variable mains supply; and to use very long cable runs.

Result
Iain Ruxton, Project Designer for Jonathan Speirs and Associates Ltd, commented “We have used VoltMaster several times before and know that it works very well indeed. There were several elements for the Aqua Park that made it an obvious choice. First, with so much water around with people in it, low-voltage was essential to comply with safety regulations; secondly, mains supply can be rather variable and it was essential to get consistent light levels; and thirdly, we needed to use a lot of long cable runs. Given these three considerations, there was no other alternative.”

Some 176 VoltMasters were used to drive over 850 low-voltage fittings, including uplighting palm trees, general theme lighting and for underwater use, where low-voltage Par 56’s were used. Many of the units were actually buried in the ground, and these were housed in specially designed casings to give full IP66 rating and allow for heat dissipation.
